Our Partnership with Watford FC

Driving sustainability on and off the pitch

Watford FC has been a key partner since our launch with them in January 2024. We introduced the initiative to both employees and fans, even treating Watford FC staff to their very first sustainability away day with a 100% plant-based lunch. Fans have been fully supportive of the initiative, with an unprecedented number getting involved in the club’s sustainability efforts.

Half Season Results

Fans actively participated in the initiative, with over 3,700 journeys logged since January 2024. There has also been positive behavioural change with:

38% of fans reported being “influenced” or “greatly influenced” by the platform to adopt more sustainable practices.

50% stated they are “likely” or “very likely” to travel more sustainably in the new season.

17% increase in carpooling and a 7% increase in walking, while single car occupancy decreased by 30%.

How It Works:

every home and away game, Watford FC fans are encouraged to log their travel on our dedicated sustainability platform. This not only helps track their carbon footprint but also offers them a chance to win exciting prizes like season tickets and hospitality packages. Additionally, the platform provides resources on eco-friendly pledges, planet-friendly recipes, and other sustainable actions, fostering positive behaviour change within the community.

Testimonials

Tarang Panchal, Head of Sustainability at Watford FC, praised Lowr’s transformative impact on the club, stating:

“Lowr has played a pivotal role in revolutionising the way we approach sustainability within our organisation, particularly in addressing the environmental impact of our fanbase. The innovative tools provided by Lowr have empowered us to start tracking fan emissions, allowing us to quantify and understand our carbon footprint in ways we never thought possible.”

Watford FC fans have also embraced the initiative. One fan shared:

“I wanted to join Lowr to try and limit the amount of car journeys I take where possible and try to travel to Watford FC weekend home games by bus and walking.”

Another fan added:

"It’s a good thing that the club are doing; encouraging supporters to help make a difference. Me and my dad could easily travel to games separately but we’ve decided to come together."

We look forward to continuing our partnership with Watford FC into the 2024/25 season.
